Remember a little while ago when I said that my friends were ‘THE BEST’? I absolutely was not joking. They are objectively the last word in awesomeness, and especially so when they decide to send me stuff. This week the lovely Zoë sent over a fine MONMOUTH Coffee Company bag. I am currently using it to protect my German language books. As if that weren’t enough, Tim found this amazing t-shirt and ordered one for me. It arrived today, and it does a bang up job of both hiding my nudity and displaying the truth. Thanks Zoë! Thanks Tim!
Meanwhile, in Germany

I rather like Adrian Tomine’s work, I enjoyed his book Shortcomings, and I especially like his self portrait because I think it looks a bit like me.

The Lindy Hop might be one of the coolest things evar. I wish I could do this.

I’ll post something original soon, but just listen a minute ok? I like to think of this scene from Down By Law as I continue to blunder around this fine country, attempting to communicate with its inhabitants and mangling their fine language as I go.

An extremely classy sampling of, apparently, Vietnamese pop and folk records.
Onra - The Anthem. From the album Chinoiseries.

Two weeks of late nights, overheated computers and disagreements over letterspacing have come to an end. This is a relief for many reasons. Through perseverance in the face of astoundingly fiddly, tedious work, we might just have pulled off an ambitious bit of typography. I was able to finish my own work early today and spend some quality time in the studio library as the sun set. This is also my first opportunity, being home before midnight, to wash my clothes.
Despite my frequent grumbles and protests, I really love my job. Even when it makes me sleep deprived, frustrated and smelly, I’m rather a lucky chap to be able to do this.

This is a recent acquisition for me, a Merkur 33c “Classic” safety razor, made in Solingen, a town somewhere in the Rhineland. It’s heavy, chromed, looks indestructible and replacement blades are as cheap as chips. It also brings something special to the ritual drudge of shaving, because unless you slow your roll and actually concentrate hard on what you’re doing, this razor will cut you up and steal your wallet.

Zoe has used her superhero-like mastery over that wily mineral GRAPHITE to thoroughly beautify a London bicycle shop.
